SUMMARY OF HIS SERVICE:

Initial Combat engineer training at Ft. Belvoir, Virginia. Assigned to 2nd Engineer Combat battalion in Wales at Tenby by the Sea training area. Landed on Omaha Beach on 8 June 1944, his 19th birthday. Moved into front line at Trevieres, Normandy. Wounded on 12 July 1944 during push on Hill 192. Served the rest of his military service in US Army hospitals in England, West Virginia and Pennsylvania. Discharged 27 November 1945.

My father was a very outgoing and jovial gentleman. A wonderful father. He was loved and well liked by all who came in contact with him. Loved to read, enjoyed music, loved to socialize at family events, church and other social gatherings.
