"He enlisted in Mt. Ranier, MD. He received his basic training at Camp Croft, SC. In June 1944 he was assigned to the European Theater of Operations as a messenger clerk. He was reassigned as a combat infantryman to Company C 38th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division in July 1944. Served in combat as a rifleman (Browning Automatic Rifle), 2nd Scout and Squad leader. He joined the reserves the same day that he was honorably discharged and faithfully served for 21 years before retiring as a 1st Sergeant on June 9th, 1970. He repaired TVs and radios, sold Electrolux vacuums, loved to play chess and eat chocolate."
